Gardening in the upstate New York area offers great opportunities to indulge local sources as well as far off places for advice, inspiration and resources. A list of favorite sites and helpful organizations are here.


Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County
is a great resource for gardening information. Their Help Line offers timely advice. The above link has "Go to Ask a Master Gardener" as a feature.

Gardenscape
, the Rochester Flower Show, takes place each spring in Rochester, New York.

Lilac Festival
is held each May in Rochester, New York in Highland Park. It offers entertainment, food, vendors, and most importantly acres and acres of fragrant lilacs.

Linwood Gardens
is internationally known for the peony collection and is located in Pavilion, New York. Linwood hosts  tree peony weekends in the spring. 

Rochester Civic Garden Center is located at 5 Castle Park in Rochester, New York. Its building, Warner Castle, is the headquarters for information and classes.

Upstate Gardeners Journal has an online service and caters to the area's gardeners. Feature articles as well as tips and travel are available.

Ear to the Ground Pro is the web site for Jane Milliman and a place where you can find lots of news on the green industry in upstate New York. Its highlights on cutting edge news offer lead-ins by Jane.
